Buying locally reduces our carbon footprint, bolsters local industry, and focuses on healthy & ethical food choices. The "buy local" poster's design was inspired by the fact that Detroit Metro Airport had recently bought the last remaining parcel of what had been my family's farm, subsequently ending our farming history. The farm which has been bought out by the airport over the decades, was a place extended family sent their children to be fed during the Great Depression and my grandmother raised her children while my grandfather was off at war (WWII). The ominous factors of air transit physically ending local farming through land acquisition as well the environmental impact of the airline industry is offset by optimism inspired by my grandmother's legacy and era. A call to reclaim our values, history, and responsibility.

thanks digimagicnb (thx for following on FB)!
naturally i fly for work as it is a necessity / reality. it isn't about casting stones, but doing our best. by buying local and eating a vegetarian diet...i am trying. by bringing awareness to the benefits of buying local, i am trying as well.
if more people bought local and the farms were thriving, the family farms would not have been sold. there are several solutions for airport development that does not have to conflict with local industry.
as you touch on below, buying local means less shipped food and reduced air traffic and pollution.

strong piece...love the message, typography (the narrowing of the 'a', 'b' curve ends), color palette, vector graphics, though air travel is also necessary (maybe not so much for veggies, but for people...I think you travel a lot per your design seeds blog I follow on fb, no?)
